MAMA FM wins one world and MTV 2004 prize on aids/MAMA FM remporte le prix no 1 mondial et MTV de 2004 sur le side.

Namita Paul from India won the year's competition with her entry "Spread Awareness, Save Futures". Second place went to MAMA FM from Kampala, Uganda for producing seven compelling Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about women and AIDS in Uganda.

Out of over 20 audio entries received from China, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, Serbia and Montenegro, Uganda and United States, these PSAs came over as strongest for their creative style and clear message.

The winner received the Staying Alive Award (a glass plaque) and a SONY minidisk. Second place entry received only the SONY equipment. The first four entries will be streamed on the Staying Alive (www.staying-alive.org) and OneWorld Radio Internets.

The competition asked young people from around the world to produce and submit original audio or video public service announcements (PSAs) about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls.

Namita Paul produced the winning audio entry. Her PSA "Spread awareness, save futures" is a dialogue between the virus and an ignorant girl. "This personification of AIDS was chosen so as to make the announcement attractive to listen to, for the young people". This PSA makes a point that by spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS amongst girls "we can make a big contribution to saving their futures."

MAMA FM took the second place in the competition. This radio station from Uganda's capital, Kampala, entered the competition with seven compelling PSAs. Each of the entries addressed the issue of HIV/AIDS and women from a different angle, specific to Uganda.

Congratulations to all who took part in creating winning entries.
