In February 2008, Asa Eriksson joined FEMNET as a Bilateral Associate Expert, under Sida's Bilateral Associate programme. Asa holds a Masters Degree in Gender Studies from the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and a BA in Journalism from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She also holds a post graduate diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from University of Uppsala, Sweden.

Before joining FEMNET, Asa has worked as a journalist in various Swedish newspapers, as Information officer for the Africa Groups of Sweden, based in South Africa, as a Programme Officer at Sida in Stockholm and as a freelance evaluator/researcher. She has been a board member of several Swedish NGOs and active in organizations such as Indymedia, South Africa and Amnesty International. Working at FEMNET, she looks forward to contributing her professional skills in the Advocacy programme and at the same time get a better insight into how progressive African feminists analyze and take action on key women's rights issues.
