The African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) is among African civil society organizations that support the Partnership for Communication in Africa Platform for Action. The Partnership for Communication in Africa aims to promote and advance a framework for information and communication for development (ICD) investment in Africa that will enable women and men, particularly those living in poverty, to access information on issues that affect their lives and enable their voices to be heard in the public arena.

The Partnership for Communication in Africa also aims to encourage donors, African governments and development actors to prioritise ICD in their work and provide sufficient resources to ensure that they contribute effectively in meeting the millennium development goals (MDGs).

The Partnership for Communication in Africa Platform for Action is based on the premise that there is need to increase spending on ICT and media support strategies to promote men and women's participation in reducing poverty, promoting human rights and sustainable development. FEMNET would like to encourage discussion on this Platform for Action among African Women's organizations working in the ICD field and those interested in following up the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD)/G8 processes.
