From 8-26 August 2005, the African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) hosted an online discussion forum on Internet Governance entitled "Tunis and Beyond: Issues for Africa and African Women on Internet Governance". The goal of the online discussion forum was to facilitate exchange and discussion on Internet governance by African women and African civil society. The discussion forum was in preparation for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) PrepCom-3 held from 19-30 September in Geneva, Switzerland.

FEMNET's online discussion forum was meant to integrate African women's concerns on Internet governance within the WSIS Gender Caucus (GC) position paper on Internet governance. The online discussion forum specifically set out to examine the issues and recommendations of the Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG) report from an African gender perspective.
