In partnership with Oxfam-NOVIB, FEMNET is implementing a research project targeting five countries (Egypt, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda and Mall), specifically chosen to represent the five sub-regions in Africa (North, South, West, East and Central).

The Gender, Macroeconomic and Poverty Reduction Strategy Process (PRSPs) in Africa project includes research into principal gender dimensions of the PRS process and its relationship to the national budget. The project will document the experiences of gender lobbies in the PRSP process and provide an analysis of women's poverty in direct relationship to national macroeconomic policy. Case studies will use one target country in each of the five sub-regions of Africa (North, South, West, East and Central) to broadly extrapolate a continental, regional overview. It is envisaged that the data and analysis from the research will provide a sound basis for FEMNET to engage with the Ministry of Finance and Planning on macro-economic modelling and gender analysis and mainstreaming training in each of the five target countries.
